Converted GT Corsa Two model year 2013

Successful liberation of a GT Corsa 2 from the expensive derailleur drivetrain-system.
The customer has heard about the reliability of a Rohloff Speedhub and the small amount of maintenance it requires. He contacted us to convert his GT towards the performant Rohloff internal gear hub and asked us for some more modifcations.
He was also looking for additional riding comfort as well as riding positions. And - since mobile devices are energy thursty when the display is on and GPS is running - it would be nice to charge the mobile device while pedaling.

We made following modifications to reach these goals and we invited the cyclist to look into the future and asked him to invest a bit more money today and offered him - on this way - to save money during the years to come.

First things to start with were the original wheels. We replaced them against our hand crafted long lasting wheelset. The fast shifting Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 and the energy efficient SON 28 hub dynamo are already a proofen team. Our properly built wheelset is durable, future-oriented, future-compatible and designed to fit rim brakes as well as a later disc-brake system installation.
The chosen RYDE Andra 30 rims have a CSS treatment. This stays for Carbide Super Sonic system. This means that RYDE fires carbide powder at the rim brake surface in a plasma jet at 5 times the speed of sound. At this speed of impact, it fuses with the aluminium. By this process the small Carbide parts become part of the surface and will not come off from the rim by damaging the rim and it gives optimal brake force especially during wet circumstances. Ryde also says, that this makes the rim lasting as long as the lifetime of the rim. Whatever this may mean.
Together with special Sapim Race spokes we are able to get perfect spoke-nipple lines in each wheel. This is especially important with large hub diameters like used here.

To make the Corsa 2 more comfortable, a Humpert butterfly handle bar got in control. This multifunctional cockpit enables many different riding positions. From sportive to relaxing to sightseeing/tourist riding. Furthermore it offers enough space to host the mechanical rim brake levers, the Rohloff lightweight twist shifter, the bright SON Edelux headlight and - as soon as the bike is handed over to the owner - a mobile phone.

The efficient Ullmann Power-Station V4 enables - in conjunction with the SON 28 hub dynamo and Edelux headlight - simultaneusly mobile phone charging while riding. This AC/DC converter can expand the lifespan of your battery or charge a power bank for the period of time after riding your bike. The Ullmann Power-Station V4 is special since it has no internal battery but starts forwarding electricity already at low speed. Which means that a cyclist doesn't need to be a racer in order to charge the mobile device. 
The original crankset and bottom bracket had do go too. We decided for a strong Hopetech crankset with suitable bottom bracket. Hope cranks are not only beautiful to look at. They come with a common chainring mount. This makes it easier for the owner to find suitable replacement chainrings. It is to be expected that this is the case even in smaller bike shops in the outback.
With the help of our gear range calculator, the customer was able to find a suitable Hope DH/Single Speed chainring beforehand.
The timeless and reliable Rohloff chain guide CC ensures that the chain will always stay in place and won'l fall off the front chainring while riding on bumpy roads.
The perfectly designed Rohloff chain tensioner, mounted at the rear derailleur hanger, compensates the chainwear unobtrusively. By the way, in case of an accident: we can supply all parts of the Rohloff chain tensioner as well as the chain guide. These can be purchased and replaced separtely! We call this sustainable and evironmentally friendly - like everything else on our conversion.
