We upgraded the latest Specialized Hotrock (model 2012), satisfying the high demand of a 6 year old preschool boy (maybe more the demand of his father :) ).
With the age of 5 he already asked for a better bike and now the legs are long enough to ride 20" wheels.

Rohloff Speedhub with external shifting mechanism.

During the customization of this mountain bike the owner of it was asking several times for the new light Rohloff shifter. He was not so much interested in the weight but he just wanted to make sure that he gets the shifter with the raven.
The Edelux is mounted with the Delux bracket on the handle bar to be close to the small children hands.
We mounted the Rohloff Speedhub downhill kit on the Specialized Hotrock. It ensures that the chain stays in it's place even under the heavy treatment of the youngster.
Magura HS 33 without additional brake booster. The standard booster which comes with the rim brake does not fit as the angle does not match. On this bike we used both pipe clamps to mount the long torque arm quick release block on the chain stay. This children bike is designed to be used off-road...

This bike makes a good figure on- and off-road.
Please have a better look at the clean cable routing! A lot of attention was payed to get a perfect line. The cables are long enough to survive unexpected ground contact and short enough not to disturb.
Todo's:
This bike still has some tuning potential.
I see a lightweight handle bar, lightweight stem, lightweight seatpost and saddle.
We'll see anyway how long this Specialized saddle will last.
