Depending on the location (climate zone) you're living, you change the Rohloff Speedhub oil once or twice a year.

Basically, an oil change should be carried out annually or at least every 5000km. Through this process it can be safe to say that there will always be enough oil in the hub regardless of oil loss (due to sweat oil) and that any penetrated water will be rinsed out.

If you are located in a temperate clima zone, then the recommendation of Rohloff (once a year or every 5.000km) and the offered "All Season Oil" is fine.
If you are close to the polar circle and above (or equal temperature conditions) or have in mind to cycle there during winter time, then you need to change the oil viscosity to cycle also during this period of the year trouble free with your Rohloff Speedhub.

Based on our experience and varied needs, we offer different Speedhub oil change kits and Oil of Speedhub units.

*There will already be approx. 25ml fluid in the hub (old oil and any penetrated moisture). After the cleaning oil is also filled into the hub then there will be approx. 50ml fluid to drain out. For this reason the cleaning oil comes in a 50ml bottle so that the old fluid can be drained out into this bottle for safe disposal.

Tip: The oil filling tube should be placed over the syringe and secured with a drop of super-glue before use.
