Stephan Kistler is a "world cyclist", who differs from the "normal" travelers.
The route he has put together is interesting and extraordinary.
His start wasn't from hometown (in Switzerland), but from a special location, the North Cape in Norway.
Instead of taking the plane to reach this place directly, he took different "tools" to move forward. He used ski, Mountain Bike and a sea-kayak from the Aare spring to the sea. There he received his touring bike and cycled to Bergen where he used Hurtigruten to Honningsvag. From there it is only a short ride to the Nordkapp.
He was on his way to the Nordkapp when more and more spokes of his Speedhub wheel broke. He was wondering that the spokes start breaking so early of his tour. So, he contacted the company Rohloff in Germany. During the conversation it turned out, that the wheel - made by a neutral bicycle repair - was built the wrong way.
It seems up there in the most northern part of Northern Europe is no suitable bike service. To prevent further or even worse damage, he made a 12-hour trip by train and bus to come to our place. (Maybe we - the Bike Station - should cover the subject wheel building in a future on our website.)
His visa for Russia is valid only some more week. In this time he wants to ride to the Caucasus Mountains and climb on Mount Elbrus. He decided to ride via the Baltic states, Poland and Ukraine to Russia.
